Grant Udy's Photos: Exquisite Galleries, Blogs & Prints

Grant Udy Photos is based in Blenheim, New Zealand, and primarily focuses on capturing the natural beauty of the Marlborough region. Founded by Grant Udy, who began his serious photography journey in late 2019, the brand has become known for its award-winning landscape and nature imagery. Grant’s background in the Marlborough wine industry strongly inspired his transition into photography, and he now passionately specialises in striking landscapes, evocative seascapes, and intricate macro photography that highlights the small, often overlooked details of the natural world. Often documenting local gems such as the Marlborough Sounds, Picton Foreshore, and the seasonal shifts in nearby vineyards, Grant captures scenes that reflect the region’s quiet character. He is well known for intimate macro shots—bees foraging among blossoms, sleeping bumblebees tucked into petals, and the trailing treasure flowers that grace Pollard Park and Seymour Square. His work frequently uses soft, ambient light and warm, golden glows to emphasize the serene beauty and fine textures of the natural world. Grant progressed from point-and-shoot and mobile photography to a professional mirrorless setup, and in 2020 he joined the Marlborough Camera Club, where within two years he advanced from a C-grade to an A-grade photographer.

Recognised in both the 2024 and 2025 NZ Amateur Photography Awards, recently receiving seven "Commended" awards and one "Highly Commended" award across the Landscape and Open categories, underscoring consistent creative achievement, growing recognition, and unwavering dedication to the photographic craft.

His print store offers museum-quality framed and unframed prints of his photographs, featuring scenes such as the Wainui River, coastal seascapes, and local wildlife. Grant also maintains an active blog where he shares detailed gear reviews (for example, Sigma and Sony lenses), practical photography tips, and thoughtful annual reviews of his work and creative progress.
